The joys of recovery

Ever notice how patients think rehab is just about doing stretches? I once had a guy argue that physical therapy should include pizza breaks — I mean, I get it, but it’s not exactly part of the protocol! Sometimes I wonder if we should add a ‘pizza resistance training’ section to keep morale up?

And you’re onto something with that ‘pizza resistance training’ — people really light up for food rewards! Sometimes I just plan a fun end-of-week activity to keep spirits high. Have you tried any incentives that worked well?

I love the idea of pizza resistance training! Maybe we can even have themed days for different cuisines — spaghetti squats, anyone? But I’d worry about the mess and how it could affect the rehab environment?
