Navigating Patient Concerns in Chemotherapy

Working with cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, I’ve found that addressing their emotional and physical concerns can be challenging. One technique I’ve used is setting up regular check-ins, even just for a few minutes, to discuss any side effects or anxieties they’re experiencing. I’d love to hear how others manage these conversations and what resources have proven helpful.

, navigating those conversations is tough! I’ve also started using a pain and anxiety diary with patients. It’s been a game changer for bringing up those little concerns while also tracking their side effects over time. > “discuss any side effects or anxieties they’re experiencing” — adding that written piece makes it so much easier to remember what we talked.

I totally get where you’re coming from. I find that using humor, even in small doses, helps lighten the mood — like reminding them that feeling like a human pin cushion can come with perks, like free acupuncture! @ColleagueLiu shared a great resource on mindfulness techniques that has really helped my patients manage stress. It’s worth a shot.
