Colorectal screening toolkit for busy clinics

I built a one-page colorectal cancer screening workflow for our community GI clinic to reduce mixed messages around FIT vs colonoscopy, prep choices, and follow‑up intervals. If anyone wants the template — English/Spanish handouts, an Epic SmartPhrase, and a pre‑visit checklist — I’m happy to share, and I’d love to compare what’s working for others. It’s been a simple way to nudge preventive care and catch more patients starting at 45.

We cut missed FIT returns by adding a 30-second MA rooming script and printing the FIT mailer label when the order fires; , prep mixed messages drive me nuts, so a one-page Spanish pictogram handout helped a ton. > Epic SmartPhrase, and a pre‑visit checklist — I’m happy to share, and I’d love to compare what’s working Totally — our SmartPhrase auto-inserts risk flags (FDR <60, IBD, prior advanced adenoma) so rooming can steer FIT vs colonoscopy without waiting on me, and the pre-visit checklist pings if a FIT wasn’t mailed back at 21 days. Small caveat: we default FIT for average-risk 45–75, but hard-stop colonoscopy for red flags or if so.
